Firefighters launched a search and rescue operation when witnesses said someone might be inside the home. They entered the house to extinguish the fire and discovered the body of an elderly man, who was declared dead at the scene.

The crew was able to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes of their arrival.

The cause of the fire will be classified as undetermined until the medical examiner releases a formal conclusion on the man’s cause of death, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue. The victim’s identity has not been made public yet.

An adult male and female who were also living at the home have been displaced due to the fire. The American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced residents.
