Royse City police arrested a suspect for domestic violence after he attempted to hide from them at a car dealership Wednesday afternoon.

The man, identified as Willie Jermaine Weekley, was wanted in Royse City for alleged family violence and violation of a protective order.

At approximately 3 p.m. on January 5, the Royse City Police Department and the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Clay Cooley Hyundai of Rockwall to serve Weekley with the warrants.

Before officers could arrest him, he hid at the dealership, located in the 1500 block of Interstate 30E. Police have not commented on why the warrants were being served there.

Fox 4 News reports that during the search, Weekley called his alleged victim of his family violence offenses and threatened to kill her as well as the officers if they attempted to arrest him.

Rockwall SWAT then responded to the scene, where a standoff occurred between them and the suspect. After three hours of searching the dealership, police found Weekley inside one of the cars.

Police did not state whether the suspect was in possession of a weapon. No one was hurt in the incident.

Weekley is now being held at the Hunt County Detention center for the outstanding Royse City warrants.

Along with the preexisting charges from the warrants, Weekley could be charged with attempting to evade arrest, though no such official announcement has been made. It has also not yet been disclosed if bond has been set.
