A 19-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 28, for allegedly crashing his pickup truck into a Dallas County Sheriff’s Department squad car and another car on Interstate 20. The crash left two deputies and another individual injured.

Nineteen-year-old Jovany Vasquez has been charged with three counts of accidents involving injury in connection with this crash. While driving his red Ford F-150 pickup truck, Vasquez hit the deputies’ squad car just after 9:30 a.m. The deputies were working a traffic stop on westbound I-20, close to Mountain Creek Parkway when Vasquez hit their squad car.

According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, Vasquez hit another vehicle while attempting to flee the crash scene in his truck.

Both deputies were getting into their squad car when Vasquez’s pickup crashed into their vehicle. The department said the driver of the second vehicle and the two deputies were taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
