Local Shooting Leaves 15-Year-Old Victim in Critical Condition

A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after being shot in Garland on Tuesday, February 8, according to a report from The Dallas Morning News.

Garland police officers were called to the shooting scene in the 300 block of East Vista Drive, near South First Street, at approximately 1 p.m. Responding officers found the victim with a gunshot wound.

The 15-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to Garland Police.

According to Garland police, a relative told investigators that he had been sitting on the front porch with another 15-year-old friend when the family heard a gunshot.

The relative told investigators that when the family found the wounded boy, his friend had left the porch. Garland Police Officers found the friend moments later.

Garland police said it was unclear which one of the boys pulled the trigger or if the shooting was accidental. However, police said no other person was involved in the shooting.

The victim’s friend was being detained at the Garland Police Department as of February 8.
