According to a CBS 11 news report, Garland High School was put on a brief lockdown on Friday morning after shots were fired across the street from the campus.

The high school’s spokesman Jason Wheeler said in a statement that the campus was placed on lockdown because of police activity in the area.

“Garland ISD security immediately put the campus on lockdown to ensure the safety of our students and staff,” Wheeler said in the statement.

CBS 11 reported that multiple police responded to the shooting scene due to its proximity to the school. There have been no reports of injuries or death so far, and police have not said what led to the shooting.

Wheeler, however, revealed that the police handled the situation, and the lockdown has been lifted.

“School operations will return to normal with no impact on the school day,” Wheeler added.
