A 3 a.m. fire significantly damaged Richardson City Hall on Monday.

No injuries were reported from the two-alarm fire, which was brought under control within an hour.

Damage from fire, water, and smoke, however, prevented offices from opening. The City’s phone, online payment, and other services were impacted.

City Hall staff were asked to stay home.

No information was provided on what caused the fire, but officials said on Tuesday it had started on the first floor, which suffered the most severe damage.

The Richardson City Hall building will remain closed for several weeks. Disaster recovery teams have worked to restore services as quickly as possible.

Meanwhile, city services have been offered at an alternate location.

Water bill payments, building and construction permits, and other services will be available at the Ray Noah Municipal Court Building at 2100 E. Campbell Road. Departmental services will operate there from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
