A large sinkhole opened up along Lake June Road in southeast Dallas on Thursday.

The sinkhole is located in the road’s eastbound center lane, near Prairie Creek Bridge in Pleasant Grove.

The hole is several feet long and wide enough to cover most of one lane, more than large enough to damage a vehicle.

Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) workers are also making repairs to a damaged wastewater manhole at the location. Officials explained that a section of 30-inch wastewater pipe is being serviced.

Three eastbound traffic lanes were closed and will not reopen until the necessary repairs are complete.

The repairs are expected to be finished on or before the evening of Monday, September 19, according to DWU representatives.

Drivers should be vigilant and drive cautiously, especially while workers are present.
