Competitive eating legend Joey Chestnut will take center stage in Dallas this weekend for a halftime showdown during the inaugural State Fair Clásico soccer match at the Cotton Bowl.

The event kicks off Saturday at 4 p.m., featuring Dallas Trinity FC against Club América Femenil in the first-ever matchup of its kind. Fans who purchase game tickets will also receive admission to the State Fair of Texas, granting access to the fairgrounds before and after the game, according to Audacy.

Chestnut, widely known for his record-breaking performances in competitive eating, will headline the halftime show with a fan-voted food challenge.

“It’s official. The halftime stage belongs to Joey Chestnut at the State Fair Clásico!” Dallas Trinity FC announced on Instagram. “He’s ready to take on your favorite fair foods — and YOU choose what’s on his plate.”

Fans can vote for the featured items by commenting on the team’s Instagram post. Organizers said the contest is designed to celebrate both sports and Texas fair culture in one of Dallas’ most iconic venues.

Built in 1930, the Cotton Bowl remains one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and a centerpiece of the State Fair. The event combines two local traditions — food and football — in a family-friendly halftime spectacle highlighting Chestnut’s trademark speed and stamina.

Chestnut, who holds dozens of competitive eating records, including 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes, is widely considered the face of professional eating contests. His appearance marks another step in blending Texas sports entertainment with signature State Fair flair.
