The arctic blast is coming to Texas this weekend, and unfortunately, is causing some issues for previously scheduled holiday events.

Friday is expected to have a low of 21 degrees Fahrenheit. This low is affecting night events, especially where staff works outdoors. By Christmas Eve, the temperature during the day should be above freezing at 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Most events are planning to reopen on Christmas Eve.

Prairie Lights, a light show in Grand Prairie, closed down on December 22 and 23 out of concern for staff members that have to work outdoors.

Any guests who already purchased passes for these days can use them on any other night until December 31.

Those who purchased Fast Passes should have received an email regarding redeeming them on another night.

The current plan is for operations to reopen as usual on Christmas Eve.

Enchant Dallas, a Dallas winter wonderland, closed on December 22, and those who purchased tickets will have received an email.

The Dallas Zoo’s light show was canceled on December 22. Additionally, they are closed Friday, December 23, during the day and at night for the light show.

The zoo posted in a tweet, “As we face bitterly cold temps this week, we’ve made some changes to our operations in the coming days –  Thurs, Dec. 22: The Zoo will be open, but Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant will be CLOSED. Fri, Dec. 23: The Zoo AND Dallas Zoo Lights will be CLOSED.”

Guests who purchased tickets for either of these nights will have received an email regarding rescheduling their visit. Just like Prairie Lights, Dallas Zoo is hoping to reopen and resume regular operations on Christmas Eve. However, the light show will not reopen for the evening of Christmas Eve.

The zoo will be closed on Christmas Day, along with the light show.

The Fort Worth Zoo will be closed on December 23 but plans to reopen for its usual hours on Christmas Eve. They will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
