A Texas high school senior plans to dedicate his football season to a Dallas-based recovery program.

Noah McGough is Texas’ top high school kicker and one of the best high school kickers in the country. Last season, he scored 17 field goals, more than any other high schooler in the state.

The third-year varsity player for Dallas Jesuit High School will raise money for a local charity this upcoming season.

McGough is asking people to pledge a dollar amount for every point he scores to donate to Men of Nehemiah, a Christian addiction treatment center that helps men who have suffered from drug and alcohol addiction rebuild their lives, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

Over the past 12 years, Men of Nehemiah has served over 1,400 men. The nonprofit organization claims that 87% of the participants who complete the program and continue in the sober living aftercare community have been substance-free for a year and 100% secure a job upon graduating from the program.

Men of Nehemiah has set up a “Kicking For a Cause” webpage to follow along with McGough’s field points and the amount donated. As of August 21, over $1,070 has been donated, and the football season has not even begun.

“I am inspired by the Men of Nehemiah,” McGough wrote on the Kicking For a Cause webpage. “Every time I get to worship with these men, I am encouraged, reminded, and more prepared to face challenges.”

CEO of Men of Nehemiah, Jim Ramsey, told FOX 4 KDFW that the donations will help the organization grow and serve more men in the community.

“I want to use every gift God’s given me to serve and love others,” said McGough. “I love kicking … and to be able to use that to help others and to create change just makes it all the better.”

“Every kick matters, but this year, every kick has more significance,” McGough added.
