According to CBS DFW news, around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, a helicopter crashed just as it took off from the McKinney National Airport.
The pilot, who was the only person onboard, suffered burns. The McKinney Fire Department describes the fire as an “explosion.”
The helicopter tilted to the side and crashed after lifting off, resulting in the fire. The pilot made it out of the wreckage without assistance and was transported to the hospital with burns.
The pilot’s identity and condition have not been released.
The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA will conduct an investigation.
