A classic since 1886, the State Fair of Texas returns this year, promising a safe and exciting three weeks of fun. This event will be held at Fair Park, Dallas, Texas begins Friday, Sept. 24 until Oct. 17.
The Texas State Fair features individual sections to separate certain aspects of the Fair. There are many parades, attractions, and live music headliners to be excited about. Here are some events to add to your to-do list for both children and adults.
Midway and the Top o’ Texas Tower
The Midway is an area of the fairgrounds that everyone should visit. This section holds a large portion of the most popular and thrilling rides, as well as a separate “Kidway” for more tame attractions. A large drop tower centerpieces the landscape, the Top o’ Texas Tower, which offers gut-wrenching drops with a beautiful view. Inside Midway also sits the Ferris Wheel and other attractions and games.
The Fair Park Coliseum is home of the 1959 Original National Finals Rodeo. State Fair of Texas is excited to announce the addition of a rodeo to the lineup of events associated with the fair this year in such a historic location. Each rodeo is free with an admission ticket, and will take place every weekend evening of the fair.
Chevrolet Main Stage Live Music
The Chevrolet Main Stage holds the primary music performances for the fair. The series of concerts are completely free with your fair admission ticket. Guests such as Clay Walker, Dru Hill, and the Black Pumas will be offering live experiences and concerts over the 24-day period. The extensive staging holds enough room for many fans, making it easy to catch your favorite performance.
State Fair of Texas hosts the Big Tex Choice Awards, ensuring access to great food for all attendees. From Mexican to Gulf seafood, you are sure to find something to satisfy your appetite. Local favorites include deep-fried gumbo balls, Lucky Duck dumplings, and every version of mac and cheese imaginable. If you have more of a sweet tooth, Big Tex recommends trying Brisket Brittle or Coffee Toffee Crunch Cake.
