Funeral services have been scheduled for the Dallas police officer who was reportedly executed by a gunman last week.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, 46-year-old Officer Darron Burks was purportedly killed in his squad car by a suspect identified as Corey Cobb-Bey. The suspect also shot two other officers before leading authorities on a chase to Lewisville, where he was ultimately killed by police.
“Last year, Officer Burks bravely decided to leave the field of education to serve our city as a member of the Dallas Police Department. His commitment to serving others, both as a teacher and as a police officer, exemplified his dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those around him,” Tina Shaw, the principal at Texas Can Academy’s Pleasant Grove Campus, said about Burks last week, per Fox 4 KDFW.
Dallasites of all stripes came out to mourn the loss of Burks’ life in the days following the senseless shooting. Reports also circulated in the aftermath regarding Cobb-Bey’s outlandish beliefs and what may have led him to commit the vile act.
Here is some of what Fox 4 reported on the arrangements made to honor Burks this week:
Services are set for the Dallas police officer killed last week in the line of duty.
Officer Darron Burks was shot and killed while sitting in his patrol car on Thursday night.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said it was a premeditated attack by a gunman who also wounded two other officers before he was killed.

A celebration of life service is set for 11 a.m. at the same church.
Fellow police officers and family members will hold a private burial ceremony afterward.
