On January 19, a former College Station High School teacher was sentenced to ten years in prison by a Brazos County jury after he sexually assaulted a student at the school.

Gregory Stanley, age 48, was found guilty of having an inappropriate relationship with his theater arts student in 2015 .

The teenager received a text from Stanley at 1 a.m. inviting him over to supposedly go over the upcoming school year. He was served alcohol by the teacher and led to a candle-lit bedroom.

Stanley began to massage the student’s body with lotion and engage in sexual acts while being told to stop continuously by the victim. Eventually, the boy was able to get away from the home.

According to College Station Police, the then 17-year-old student reported sexual abuse on August 3, 2015.

Stanley tried to apologize to the student and blamed his behavior on being intoxicated. He then attempted to manipulate the minor into not reporting the incident. Unbeknownst to him, the phone call was recorded by the police.

He was arrested and placed on administrative leave from the school.

At that time, the College Station ISD Communications Director, Chuck Glenewinkel, said in a statement, “Accusations of this nature are disturbing, and if proven to be true, unacceptable. CSISD will fully cooperate with College Station PD during the investigation. The safety and well-being of students is the top priority of CSISD and misconduct of this nature will not be tolerated by any CSISD employee.”

Stanley ultimately resigned from the school. The former teacher had also previously worked at Klein High School, Temple High School, and Magnolia High School. Students from two previous schools recounted similar stories to the one reported.

In court, a past student from Magnolia High School recalled when the ex-teacher allegedly invited him over to his house and gave him alcohol, causing the minor to pass out. The student said he awoke to Stanley performing a sexual act without his consent.

A former student at Corsicana High School also testified that the perpetrator hugged and kissed him inappropriately at a theater camp in Georgetown, Texas.
