Dallas City Council Member Carolyn King Arnold, who represents District 4, is extending an invitation to celebrate the season with community spirit.

Park board member Harrison Blair and the Dallas Park and Recreation Department will join Arnold to host the free Kiest Park Holiday Festival and Tree Lighting event on Saturday.

From 4–8 p.m., head out to Kiest Park at 3080 S. Hampton Rd. in Dallas for a family-fun evening of live entertainment and pictures with Santa. Families should bring their own picture-taking devices and limit their photo-ops to two snaps per family.

The festival will include a wide array of delightful activities to excite attendees of all ages. Among the attractions, visitors will have access to hot chocolate stations, inflatable bounce houses and carnival rides for the kids, arts and crafts at Santa’s workshop, and various vendors and food trucks serving delicious treats.

If you haven’t finished your holiday shopping yet, stop by the local artisan vendor tables for a few ideas. Vendors who will be on hand include Grace and Grunge Luxe, offering home fragrance and decor, and VCor Clothing, with a line of decorated T-shirts. Creations by Diane will feature some fabulous stocking stuffers, such as decorated tumblers, car coasters, and bottle openers.

Community partner vendors Dallas 311, Dallas County Health and Human Services, Dallas Aquatics, and the North Texas Food Bank will all be on hand with helpful information on community services.

Live entertainment will kick off at 4 p.m. with the Kiest Out of School-Carol Singers. At 4:30 p.m., enjoy a performance by Alma Y Corazon Tejano Ballet Folklorico, followed by live jazz music from the Rob Holbert Group at 6:30 p.m.

If all the holiday hoopla makes you hungry, don’t fret; a variety of food trucks and vendors will be on-site to sate your appetite. Fried catfish, gumbo, tater tots, hamburgers, cheese fries, and chicken wings are just some of the options that will be available for purchase.

The highlight of the evening will be the awe-inspiring lighting of the 26-foot holiday tree, scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m. Don’t miss out on the evening of family-friendly holiday fun with fellow Dallasites!
