The famous Ferris wheel Texas Star will no longer be the only Ferris wheel in the Lone Star state. The Grandscape Wheel is ready to make its debut on Sept. 10 at The Colony.

The Grandscape Wheel is 180 feet high and features 42 gondolas. Each gondola can fit up to eight riders at one time. Some gondolas feature VIP upgrades with glass floors, music for riders to enjoy, leather and more. The Ferris wheel makes three revolutions, which equals a 12-15 minute ride for patrons to enjoy drinks, socialize with one another and see the sights.

Riders will be able to see views of The Colony, as well as the nearby city of Frisco and the North Texas cityscape and horizon. The Grandscape will stay open year round from Wednesday through Sunday.

“We are so proud to bring the Grandscape Wheel to The Colony, Texas and be a part of the immersive entertainment lineup at Grandscape along with Nebraska Furniture Mart, Andretti Indoor Karting, and Games and Scheels,” Jim Riggs, the Developer and Managing Partner of SouthWest Wheel Partners, shared in a statement.

The new Grandscape Wheel will welcome riders on Friday with covid precautions in place per state and local guidance. Only those from the same household may share a gondola. Social distancing will be implemented with hand sanitizer available for riders. Each gondola will be disinfected in between rides for the safety of patrons.

The Grandscape Wheel is the latest attraction to be added to the Grandscape that already features restaurants, top retail stores and shops, outdoor entertainment, and special events. Tickets to ride the Grandscape wheel range from $12 – $15.

The Grandscape Wheel will make its big debut at 2 p. m. on Friday.
