On Saturday, November 9, art enthusiasts and casual visitors are invited to immerse themselves in a vibrant celebration of creativity at the inaugural East Dallas District Art Walk, where Left Bank Art Studio will showcase its creations.
The East Dallas Arts District Art Walk and Left Bank Art Studio Tour runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering an opportunity to explore the artistic talents of over 60 local artists whose works will be displayed at various venues throughout the scenic Old East Dallas and Expo Park areas, reported Candy’sDirt.
Live music and plenty of food and beverage selections will be available.
Gather your friends and family for a fun day filled with art, music, and community spirit. Here is more of what Candy’sDirt reported on the upcoming East Dallas Arts District Art Walk and Left Bank Art Studio Tour:
The Left Bank Art Studio Tour was conceived in 2022 when Hollywood Heights artist Logan Broussard grew weary of waiting around to be invited onto another art tour. He remembered the famous words of New York Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
Broussard brought more than a chair. He brought the neighborhood artists together and created the Left Bank Art Studio Tour. Left Bank is an homage, of course, to the famous Left Bank of Paris as well as a nod to Hollywood Heights being on the left bank of White Rock Lake. Why join a movement when you can start one?
In 2023 The Left Bank Studio joined in with the Hollywood Heights Home Tour. This year, they have changed the date to coincide with the first-ever East Dallas Arts District Art Walk. On Nov. 9, not only can you see the exciting artwork of the Left Bank group, but you can also explore the works of over 60 artists at multiple venues around Old East Dallas and Expo Park and enjoy live music at East Dallas Vintage on the back patio all day. There will be food and refreshments at participating East Dallas restaurants, cafes, and coffee shops.
The East Dallas Arts District Art Walk was the brainchild of Andrea Lamarsaude, the owner of Art on Main. Last year she was talking with some people in the art business in Old East Dallas and mentioned there was no official support system for artists in this part of town.
“So, in the last few months, we started the East Dallas Arts District,” Lamarsaude said. “We are planning an annual art walk and events throughout the year that will include pop-up exhibits and lectures.”
Lamarsaude’s family has lived in East Dallas for generations, so a big part of her drive to create the East Dallas Art Walk was personal.
“I’m in the art world; East Dallas is my home, and I wanted to support and promote everyone over here,” she said.
Quinn Leeson, a senior at Dallas Academy, was selected to create the poster for the art events. Broussard discovered Quinn, who also lives in Hollywood Heights, when her mother, Kim Leeson, was photographing the studios for the Left Bank tour. When she mentioned her daughter was an artist, Broussard took one look at the talented painter’s work and invited her to create the tour poster. The proverbial apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Not only is Quinn’s mother a talented photographer, but her late father, David, was a Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist.
The East Dallas Arts District Art Walk and Left Bank Art Studio Tour will take place next Saturday, Nov. 9, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
