Funeral arrangements have been made for a fallen Dallas police officer killed in a car crash on Spur 408.
Two funeral mass services will be held for Northwest Patrol Division Officer Jacob Arellano, police announced Saturday.
The first funeral and mass are scheduled for Wednesday, October 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Richardson.
The visitation for Officer Arellano will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson. The funeral mass will follow the visitation. Dallas Police Department honors will be rendered after the Wednesday service.
The second service for Arellano will be held in El Paso on Friday, October 21, at 11:00 a.m. The funeral mass will take place at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in El Paso. Interment will follow at the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Arellano, 25, was off duty, traveling to work for the start of his shift on October 11. He was driving northbound on Spur 408 near Kiest Boulevard when a wrong-way driver hit his SUV head-on.
The impact pushed his car into the path of a tractor-trailer. The officer’s vehicle rolled several times, causing Arellano to suffer fatal head injuries. He later died at a hospital early Wednesday morning.
Mayra Rebollar, 31, was hospitalized in the crash and charged with intoxication manslaughter, police announced Friday.
According to reports, Rebollar was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when she hit the front left portion of Arellano’s vehicle.
Officer Arellano had been a member of the Dallas Police Department since June 2019. He is survived by his parents, girlfriend, infant child, and a brother, who is also a Dallas police officer.
