A weekend “drag brunch” held in Plano has ignited a national controversy.

At the Ebb & Flow bar and restaurant on Saturday, Sara Gonzales, host of The News & Why it Matters on BlazeTV, captured footage of the event that shows a child interacting with drag queens.

In the first clip Gonzales shared on Twitter, at least one young child can be seen watching the drag performer obscenely dance to the song by rapper Lady, called “P—y.”

Additional footage released by Gonzales shows a man in a dominatrix-like outfit with a whip dancing in the presence of the child.

Later after the young girl gave money to the performer, he said, “My ovaries just exploded. I want children now.”

“Children are delicious,” another drag queen remarked.

At the end of Gonzales’ video, the performers are seen handing out sex toys “for all genders.” Gonzales said the toys were being given away as prizes for a contest.

“This is something that was overtly sexual,” Gonzalez said in an interview with Tucker Carlson. “They clearly said all ages welcome, and now apparently, the Left is gaslighting me into thinking that I’m somehow the crazy one for having a problem with this.”

“Parental rights do not apply to child abuse. This is clear child abuse; this is the sexual abuse of children, which we used to — the left and the right — we used to be able to agree was a really, really bad thing,” Gonzales decried.

State Representative Matt Shaheen of District 66, representing far North Dallas and West Plano, said on Twitter, “I am in discussions [with] local and state law enforcement about this public obscenity & sexualization of children. This WILL NOT be tolerated.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has called for the prosecution of this performance.

“This is grotesque, disturbing behavior,” he told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “Under Texas law, local district and county attorneys are charged with taking up the mantle to protect Texas kids by prosecuting these types of totally inappropriate acts.”

He continued, “What’s more, in 2023, the Texas Legislature should amend the Texas Penal Code to expressly prohibit this kind of grossly sexual conduct and empower my office to prosecute when district and county attorneys refuse.”

Gonzales referred to the event as an “all ages drag brunch,” and posted on Twitter a screenshot of the ticketor.com website, which stated, “All ages are invited to attend; however, due to suggestive and coarse language, parental discretion is advised. If minors do attend, they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian ’cause we got potty mouths.”

The promotional poster advertising the event featured a label reading, “18+ Adults Only.”

The ticketing website for the upcoming drag queen brunches at the venue has since been changed to read, “This event contains strong language and suggestive dialogue and may not be appropriate for all ages. Viewer Discretion is advised.”

“This is a ticketed event at a private establishment. We believe it is the prerogative of parents/guardians to make decisions regarding the wellbeing of their children,” the disclaimer read.

The owner of Ebb & Flow, Dallas Hale, said Saturday’s brunch was the first drag show hosted by his restaurant.

Hale said he noticed a family approach with a young girl and wanted to make sure the family knew what they were going to see. The family said they were aware and wanted to see the drag performance, according to Hale.

“This is no different than you taking your child to a rated-R movie,” he said. “So with that, I let them in. The show was very tasteful.”

Hale added that the show was “very interactive.”

“We’re getting hate mail and stuff like that, but it’s nothing I didn’t expect,” he continued. “I knew it was coming. I saw it at other locations, and it wasn’t anything that made me nervous in any way, shape, or form.”

“I think it’s very sad that someone bought a ticket just to come in and try to shut down a business,” Hale said. “It’s ridiculous.”

Ebb & Flow currently advertises “drag brunches” for the third Saturday of every month, and the owner said he has no plans to cancel future events.

After attending Plano’s drag brunch, Sara Gonzales announced the launch of “Defend Our Kids: Texas,” an initiative “working overtime to get drag shows for kids shut down for good. And Texas is only the beginning.”

The new group’s website encourages visitors to report upcoming drag shows that allow children and promises weekly reports “on the latest affronts to social norms.”
