Three people were killed in a single-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning near the White Rock Lake area.

The Dallas Police Department responded to reports of a car wreck in the 7200 block of E. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas on December 9 at about 8:05 a.m. Officials said that the vehicle had been traveling westbound when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to NBC 5 DFW.

Two adult occupants of the vehicle died at the scene, and a third died after being transported to a local hospital.

Police have not publicly identified the victims and have not stated what led to the crash, but the investigation is ongoing.

This tragedy is the second recent deadly collision in Dallas involving a vehicle veering off the road into a tree. Last week, a preteen boy was killed, and three other minors were injured in a similar collision in southeast Dallas.

In that incident, a 12-year-old child was reportedly driving the vehicle when an argument broke out among the four boys in the vehicle. The survivors told police that one of the passengers grabbed the steering wheel, causing it to veer off the road and strike the tree, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
