Driver Flees After Killing 5-year-old, Injuring Others in Crash

In Denton County, an eighteen-year-old allegedly took off after causing a car accident that resulted in the death of a young boy.

According to police, early Sunday, December 19, Christopher Fowler was allegedly driving in Rhome on Highway 287 when he collided nearly head-on with a car of six people. The crash that left a five-year-old boy dead and a fourteen-year-old with severe injuries. The surviving child was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Before first responders appeared, Fowler reportedly fled the scene.

A search conducted by Rhome Police, Texas Rangers, Wise County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety yielded an arrest Sunday morning at around 4 a.m. at the suspect’s home in Northlake the afternoon on December 19.

Fowler faces criminal charges, including manslaughter.
