A two-story apartment building caught fire overnight on Sunday, resulting in a massive two-alarm blaze that damaged or destroyed 18 units.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the 911 call at about 12:42 a.m. Monday at the Stratford at Midtown Apartments, 6749 Larmanda Street, in northeast Dallas. Crews arrived to find flames coming from a first-story unit and spreading quickly.

Tenants were pulled from the building and a second alarm was called just before 1 a.m.

Firefighters battled the blaze using hand lines and aerial ladder towers for about four hours before declaring it officially out at approximately 4:45 a.m. According to Dallas Fire-Rescue, a large section of the building collapsed during the fire.

No one was injured in the fire, but many residents were displaced. Only about half the units in that building were occupied, and building management relocated those tenants to other available apartments in the complex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
