Dallas residents can kick off the holiday season with free festivities at the annual Deck The Plaza event on December 5, featuring fireworks, live entertainment, and a visit from Santa Claus.
The event runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the Dallas City Hall outdoor plaza, offering families a chance to enjoy seasonal activities without incurring any costs.
City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert and city council members will join attendees for the evening’s highlight — a tree lighting ceremony at 6:45 p.m. Fireworks will illuminate the sky at 7:15 p.m., launched from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Arena.
Beyond the pyrotechnics, visitors can slide down a real snow slide or explore the toddler zone designed for younger children. Local school groups will perform throughout the evening.
Interactive characters will roam the plaza entertaining guests while food trucks serve up dinner options. Organizers promise giveaways throughout the night, though specific prizes weren’t detailed.
Those unable to attend in person can watch a livestream at dal.city/CityofDallasYT.
The free community event continues Dallas’s tradition of celebrating the holidays at City Hall, bringing together residents from across the city for an evening of winter fun — Texas style.
