Dallas Police are investigating after a body was found floating in water in Pleasant Grove Wednesday, according to a news release.

The body of an unidentified man was discovered on February 22, according to police.

Officers responded to a call for service in the 1500 block of North Prairie Creek Road.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man floating in the water at the location.

The Dallas Police Department’s Homicide Unit was called and responded to the scene, police said.

Michael Dennis, a spokesman for the Dallas Police Department, spoke briefly with The Dallas Express and gave clarification on who responded to the scene.

“Homicide responded to the scene and is investigating this as an unexplained death,” said Dennis to The Dallas Express.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police responded to the incident in District 5, which is presided over by Dallas City Councilmember Jaime Resendez.

Resendez has been the subject of The Dallas Express Crime Boss series and won the title of Crime Boss of the month in February.

Dallas has seen an increase in violent crime, and murders have risen nearly 18%, according to the Dallas Police daily crime brief.
