Anyone with a soft spot in their heart for kittens is invited to attend a “Kitten Shower” hosted by Dallas Animal Services on Saturday.

During the free event, which runs from 1-5 p.m. on March 16, participants can learn about neonatal kittens, tour the kitten nursery, and receive training on the care and feeding of these fragile creatures. Those interested in fostering kittens in their home or volunteering in the DAS Kitten Nursery are especially encouraged to attend.

Space is limited for the hands-on training sessions for potential foster parents, so interested parties are encouraged to sign up on the DAS website.

In addition, DAS will be collecting donations for the Kitten Nursery, such as baby blankets, heating pads, and kitten formula, during the event. Click here for the agency’s “wish list” of donation items.

More than 2,000 orphaned kittens pass through the doors of DAS every year, and many of these vulnerable feline babies need constant care. From April through October, DAS operates a Kitten Nursery around the clock, seven days a week, to care for the kittens until they can be placed in an appropriate foster home.

Dallas Animal Services is located at 1818 North Westmoreland Rd.
