As the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex prepares for a night of fireworks, music, and revelry to ring in 2025, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Molson Coors are making it easier than ever for celebrants to safely enjoy the holiday with free public transit rides throughout the evening.
Whether you’re headed to a New Year’s Eve party in downtown Dallas or to other parts of the metroplex, DART’s extensive network will be available at no cost starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The DART initiative, in partnership with Molson Coors, is aimed at ensuring that New Year’s celebrants enjoy the holiday, party responsibly, and arrive home safely. This collaboration marks the return of the popular program from previous years, that aims to reduce impaired driving during one of the busiest nights of the year.
From the DART buses and rail lines to the TRE commuter rail, GoLink, and “paratransit services”, all regular routes will be fare-free, including service all the way to the CentrePort rail station. The free rides will continue throughout the evening, offering convenient options for getting to and from popular spots across Dallas and nearby transit partner cities.
Molson Coors has extended this program to other major cities across the United States, including Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C. The goal is clear: to make it easier for people to celebrate the holiday without compromising their safety. Last year, the program provided more than 200,000 free rides across the country, with over 31,000 of those in the Dallas-Fort Worth area alone, reported Fox 4 KDFW.
The program could potentially save lives by keeping drunk drivers off the roads, as New Year’s Eve is known for a significant increase in impaired driving. Past research from Sargon Law Group indicated a 136% rise in fatal accidents during the late-night hours, while more than 40% of NYE overnight fatal crashes involve alcohol — three times the national average during the rest of the year, as WJTV 12 reported.
Those out on the town tonight can visit the DART official website for more information on free schedules, and routes offered tonight.
For those planning to stay in and watch the New Year’s Eve action from the comfort of their homes, FOX 4 will broadcast Texas NYE Live!, showcasing celebrations in Dallas, Houston, and Austin starting at 10:30 p.m.
