An adapted schedule for public transportation services in Dallas was announced ahead of Thanksgiving.
In observance of the holiday, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) announced that its street car services, buses, and light rail trains will be operating on a weekend schedule on November 23 and 24.
Meanwhile, its on-demand GoLink service zones will run from 5 a.m. to midnight on both days, with the exception of the IPTMA zone in southern Dallas County. While it will not operate at all on Thursday, it will run from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.
Similarly, the Trinity Railway Express will not be in service on Thursday but will open again on Friday, operating on a weekend schedule to take DART passengers between Dallas and Fort Worth.
DART’s customer service offerings will also be limited in light of the holiday.
Its administrative offices, Customer Care Center, and Lost and Found will be closed both Thursday and Friday. While the Customer Information Center will be closed on Thanksgiving, it will open operational again the following day, fielding passenger inquiries from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For those looking to use DART’s Paratransit services, bear in mind that Mobility Management’s Paratransit Call Center will be closed on Thursday and won’t open again until Monday. Schedule your trips for any of these days by phone by November 22. Otherwise, schedule, cancel, and view trips at your own leisure using DART’s new web booking tool here.
DART also has special plans for the rest of the holiday season.
Passengers should keep their eyes peeled for two holiday trains and three holiday buses making the rounds across the 700-mile service area between November 24 and January 1. Bedecked with festive decorations and twinkling lights, they’ll likely be hard to miss. But just in case, here’s the schedule for when the holiday buses can be found:
- Blue Line: November 24-December 2; December 30-January 1
- Red Line: December 3-9; December 28-29
- Green Line: December 10-16; December 26-27
- Orange Line: December 17-25
From December 2 to 16, certain DART stations will also be holding holiday events, with live music, promotional giveaways, and a visit from Santa Claus on offer. For more information, check out the website here.
