Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is inviting the public to a virtual, biannual community meeting to review the progress of the DART Silver Line Regional Rail Project.

DART and the Design-Build Contractor, Archer Western Herzog (AWH), will be on hand to outline the latest design and construction developments and answer questions.

The project will provide regional rail service along the 26-mile long Silver Line corridor from DFW International Airport to Plano.

The Cotton Belt Corridor was approved in October 2006, according to DART. In its Fiscal Year 2017, DART advanced the Cotton Belt’s implementation to the year 2022 in its twenty-year financial plan.

The Cotton Belt Corridor is 26 miles long, stretching from DFW Airport to Shiloh Road in Plano. The alignment includes Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and Plano.

The Cotton Belt “Silver Line” Project’s primary goal is to provide passenger rail connections and service to significant employment, population, and activity centers in the DART Service Area’s northern region, improving mobility, accessibility, and system linkages.

The Cotton Belt “Silver Line” Project would connect to three DART LRT lines:

Richardson and Plano’s Red/Orange Lines, Carrollton’s Green Line, and the DFW Airport’s Orange Line. The project would also connect the DFW Airport Skylink People Mover to the Fort Worth Transportation Authority’s TEXRail Regional Rail Line and access the DFW Airport TEXRail Regional Rail Line.

On August 28, 2018, the DART Board of Directors approved a Cotton Belt Corridor Service Plan Amendment that defined the Project’s alignment, grade separations, and station locations. A Cotton Belt Corridor residential betterment program was also approved at the same time.

On June 18, 2019, the DART Board of Directors approved a resolution renaming future Cotton Belt Regional Rail Corridor service the Silver Line. After completion, the Silver Line will operate with a 30-minute peak and 60-minute off-peak service.
