The Dallas Police Department has released a list of safety protocols for residents preparing to celebrate the Fourth of July.
The Dallas PD revealed it is releasing the list of protocols to remind residents that fireworks of any type are not only dangerous but prohibited.
The list of warnings and safety protocols are as follows:
Dallas police urge residents who wish to attend fireworks displays to leave the lighting to the professionals. Police said those caught in possession of fireworks could be fined up to $2,000.
Dallas police warned that discharging a firearm into the air during a firework display is prohibited, and violators could face fines of up to $4,000 and one year of jail time. Authorities emphasized that discharging a firearm into the air is extremely dangerous and could lead to a deadly conduct charge that can result in 2 to 10 years in jail and a fine up to $10,000 in some cases.
Authorities urge residents to ensure that their pets’ ID tags are up-to-date and securely fastened to their collars. Police added that residents should consider microchipping their pets and adding them to Nextdoor’s pet directory, which can be found here.
Residents are encouraged to only fire up their grills outdoors and never on porches. Dallas police added that children and pets must be kept from grills.
For those who have swimming in their Fourth of July plans, Dallas police urged them to avoid alcohol around pools and never swim alone. Authorities urge residents to never leave children unattended near pools.
If residents witness any firework violation, they are to call 911 and report them.
