Sunday morning, officers continued to pay tribute to fallen officer, 46-year-old Darron Burks, escorting Burks’ body in a procession from the medical examiner’s office to Restland Funeral Home off Greenville Avenue in Dallas.

Burks was shot and killed in a suspected premeditated attack, and two responding officers, Jamie Farmer and Karissa David, were wounded on August 29. The alleged shooter was killed after a car pursuit ended in Lewisville, where law enforcement officers fatally shot Cobb-Bey after he aimed a firearm at them.

David is still in the hospital after being shot in the face, while Farmer is recovering at home after being shot in the leg, reported Fox 4 KDFW.

Law enforcement, including Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia, assembled outside the funeral home on Sunday to honor Burks, reported WFAA.

Chief Garcia posted on social media on Friday, expressing his thoughts during this difficult time.

The alleged shooter, Corey Cobb-Bey, self-identifies as a Moorish American National, per his social media. His social media accounts also offered grave apocalyptic messaging, and his step-father, Emory Cobb, mentioned Corey had recently been talking about demons, reported WFAA.

On the day of the attacks on the officers, Corey Cobb-Bey posted a reel on Facebook, narrating, “You better be protected and listen to what I say. The Earth is going to be destroyed because they want to destroy everybody. They want everybody to fall into sin. Even nature itself.”

Tributes from mourners to Burks, including flowers and other keepsakes, have been placed at a police squad car outside the memorial at the police department’s South Central station.
