The Grand Prairie Police Department arrested an officer of the Dallas Police Department on a DWI charge, according to a DPD announcement.

Officer Brandon Innes, 43, was arrested, according to an announcement made by the Dallas police department on Wednesday, for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Grand Prairie police said they received a call on Tuesday about a possible intoxicated driver in the 600 block of Lake Ridge Parkway, near Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake. Officers were sent to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m.

On arrival, responding officers located the vehicle and carried out a traffic stop on the driver.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Grand Prairie police later identified the driver as Innes. Innes was taken into custody on the Class B misdemeanor charge.

The Grand Prairie Police Department revealed that it contacted its Dallas counterpart, who immediately sent commanders to the Grand Prairie jail to relieve Innes of his department credentials.

Innes now faces a possible fine of $2,000 and up to 180 days in jail. He was booked into the Tarrant County jail and released Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records.

According to The Dallas Morning News, Innes has been with the Dallas PD since January 2006 and is assigned to the Southwest Patrol division.

The DMN also reported that Innes had been previously convicted of public intoxication and was suspended for thirty days by Dallas PD in 2011 after internal investigators concluded he was drunk when his truck struck a landscape retaining wall.

Innes released a statement at the time vowing “this will never happen again” if he was allowed to remain with the Dallas Police Department. He added that the incident had helped him realize he had a problem and that he had sought help.

Innes is currently on administrative leave while Dallas police conduct an internal investigation.
