Dallas Municipal Court will host a weeklong series of free public events featuring food trucks, police meet-and-greets, and distracted driving simulations.
The annual Municipal Court Week aims to educate residents about traffic safety while honoring court staff, including judges, clerks, and bailiffs.
“The City of Dallas Municipal Court stands as a pillar of trust, ensuring every voice is heard and every citizen is respected,” according to a statement from the City of Dallas.
Events run Monday through Friday, November 3-7, at the courthouse located at 2014 Main Street.
Monday kicks off with all-day popcorn and movies for citizens. Police Chief Daniel Comeaux will meet with residents from 9:30 to 10 a.m., followed by a distracted-driving simulation station.
Tuesday features “Breakfast for the Blue” honoring law enforcement from 8 to 9 a.m. The city’s 311 mobile unit will provide on-site services, and food trucks will arrive at 11 a.m.
Wednesday focuses on youth engagement with area schools from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will experience mock trials, court process tours, and presentations on youth diversion programs.
Thursday returns to community appreciation, featuring more distracted-driving demonstrations and food trucks. Court clerks receive special recognition from 9 to 10 a.m.
The week concludes on Friday with an employee appreciation luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Special awards and recognitions will be presented to court staff.
Judge Tonya Goffney chairs the Municipal Court Week committee. Administrative Judge Preston Robinson Jr. oversees daily court operations.
