The Perot Museum of Nature and Science will celebrate National Space Day on Friday, May 1, with a full slate of interactive activities designed to highlight space exploration and inspire interest in science.

The one-day event, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will feature hands-on experiences throughout all four levels of the museum and on its outdoor plaza. Visitors will have opportunities to design a spacesuit, program a Mars rover, and build a moon base while learning about the science and creativity behind space exploration.

The event comes three weeks after the splashdown of the Artemis II mission and aims to connect recent milestones in space travel with educational experiences for the public.

National Space Day, observed annually on the first Friday in May, promotes science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education while recognizing achievements and opportunities in space exploration.

Organizers say the museum’s programming is intended for all ages, encouraging visitors to explore scientific concepts through play and experimentation. Activities will be included with general admission and available only during the May 1 event.

In addition to exhibits and workshops, themed food specials will be offered at the museum café throughout the day.

The United States Space Force sponsors the event.

General admission tickets are available on the museum website for $17 for children ages 2-12; adult tickets for ages 13 and up are $27.

The Perot Museum is located at 2201 N. Field St. in Dallas.
