The City of Dallas has been selected to receive Love Your Block grants from the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University, which will empower residents to lead neighborhood revitalization projects.

As one of 16 U.S. cities in the 2024-2026 cohort—the largest in the program’s history—Dallas joins a network that has engaged nearly 50,000 community members, improved 4,000 public spaces, created 800 art displays, cleaned 102,000 square feet of graffiti, and removed 6.7 million pounds of trash nationwide since 2009.

Alongside funding, Dallas will receive a dedicated AmeriCorps VISTA member and technical assistance from the center’s civic engagement experts.

“Each Love Your Block city helps demonstrate one of the most important skills required to drive innovation in city halls – the ability to center resident voices,” said Amanda Daflos, executive director of the Bloomberg Center. “We are excited to partner with the City of Dallas to build on the successful legacy of support from Bloomberg Philanthropies and Cities of Service and accelerate their efforts to partner with communities to drive local impact through funding, staff support, and the public innovation expertise to help sustain resident-led change.”

Dallas residents, neighborhood groups, and nonprofits can apply for mini-grants of up to $1,500 to fund projects like beautification, blight removal, public art, cleanups, community gardens, or small repairs. Applications are open through May 15, 2025, via Keep Dallas Beautiful Love Your Block.

In addition to Dallas, the cohort includes cities like Baltimore, Louisville, and Long Beach, all working to enhance public spaces through community-driven efforts.
