A late-night house fire near Dallas Love Field left six residents displaced on Monday, injuring two, one of whom is in critical condition.
Dallas firefighters rescued two people trapped inside the burning home on Caillet Street. Six people were inside when flames erupted just before 10 p.m.
Fire crews arrived at the 7400 block of Caillet Street to find heavy flames shooting from the front of the one-story house. Four occupants had already escaped to safety.
Firefighters searched the smoke-filled home and found a woman near an exit. They quickly evacuated her to a hospital where she’s expected to recover.
A man discovered deeper inside the structure was unresponsive when crews pulled him out. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Dallas Fire-Rescue extinguished the blaze by 10:17 p.m., just 17 minutes after arrival. The American Red Cross is now assisting the six displaced residents with temporary housing and other needs.
Fire investigators have not determined what sparked the blaze. The identities of the two hospitalized victims haven’t been released.
The man’s current medical status was unavailable on Tuesday morning. The cause remains under investigation as the neighborhood recovers from the overnight emergency.
