The Dallas Holiday Parade returns to downtown on Saturday, with city officials warning drivers to expect significant road closures and limited parking throughout the morning.
The parade begins at 9 a.m. at Commerce Street and Houston Street, drawing thousands of visitors to the city’s core each year. From there, the route will continue east along Commerce, turn onto Harwood Street, and proceed to Young Street, ending near Young and Akard.
City crews have already staged bleachers and equipment along portions of Commerce, and officials advise motorists to plan for delays across the Central Business District.
DART rail and bus service will operate on regular schedules, and the transit agency is encouraging parade-goers to use public transportation to avoid traffic congestion and detours.
First held in 1988, the annual parade is one of Dallas’ largest holiday events, featuring marching bands, floats, large character balloons, and an appearance by Santa Claus. Festivities will continue around Main Street Garden and nearby streets after the parade as families remain downtown for additional holiday programming.
