The City of Dallas has awarded over $45,000 in mini-grants to 30 neighborhood improvement projects across 11 council districts.

The inaugural Love Your Block Awards Ceremony at City Hall celebrated residents’ plans for murals, gardens, and community spaces.

The grants empower neighbors to transform their own blocks through grassroots initiatives, bridging the gap between city government and residents while building stronger communities.

The Love Your Block program is part of a national Cities of Service initiative. Bloomberg Philanthropies supports the effort, which is managed by Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation.

Projects funded include colorful murals, litter cleanups, native plant gardens, and community education programs. Each initiative aims to create more resilient and connected neighborhoods, led by their residents.

The ceremony brought together neighbors, community leaders, city staff, and local partners. Attendees shared excitement about the upcoming transformations in their communities.

Over the coming months, residents will see these 30 projects come to life across Dallas. Murals will brighten walls, streets will become cleaner, and new gathering spaces will emerge.

City officials are already planning next year’s grant cycle. More Dallas residents will have opportunities to apply for funding and implement their creative ideas for neighborhood improvement.

The program demonstrates how small, resident-led actions can create significant community change. Dallas joins a growing network of cities empowering neighbors to improve their blocks.
