An artisan frozen dessert shop with roots in Brooklyn is now helping cool down Dallasites amid the hot summer weather.

Uncle Louie G’s Italian Ice & Ice Cream has officially opened in North Dallas at 7522 Campbell Road, Suite 115. Expect frozen delights combined with Brooklyn ambiance.

“WOW WOW WOW!!! This place is exactly what I’ve been looking for to open for this area. There are so many flavors of Italian ice and ice cream (Even dairy free options),” wrote one recent reviewer on Google.

“Now if this wasn’t enough to convince you the customer service is absolutely incredible! Bryan and Gideon in particular were the ones to help us out on our visit and we can’t wait to be back!”

The chain’s origins date back to the 1950s, when Louie G. opened it in Brooklyn. In the 2000s, family members expanded the frozen dessert offering to new locations, offering more people the opportunity to indulge in the chain’s popular Italian ice.

Today, Melissa and Ernie Aiello own Louie G., with 10 locations operating in New York, New Jersey, and Staten Island.

A true New York institution, Louie G’s serves up flavors dedicated to first responders, like NYPD Blue and FDNY Cherry. Expect an extensive menu with dozens of Italian ice and ice cream flavors.

Unlike shaved ice, which is popular in North Texas, Italian ice is typically smoother and creamier, accomplished by churning ingredients.

What sets Louie G’s apart are its ingredients. The Italian ice is made with real fruit, and the shop’s premium ice cream is concocted with 14% butterfat for a more satisfying bite.

The new Campbell location was introduced to the city by Zabi P., a Dallas resident who had moved to the area three years prior.

“When we moved to Dallas, the Texas heat got to us, and we went looking for something sweet, light, and refreshing. But there were no Italian ice places here,” said Zabi, per CultureMap Dallas.

“We looked at many locations but we wanted to be part of a nice neighborhood with residents who would appreciate this kind of gourmet shop.”
