A blaze ripped through a shopping center near White Rock Lake on March 2.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene in the 9000 block of Garland Road, near Loop 12 Buckner Boulevard, after a call came in just before 4:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and fire coming from behind the Humble Pie location, a one-story commercial structure.

Firefighters moved to the back of the building, where they found the fire behind the shopping center, spreading to the business.

Dallas Fire was able to put out the flames within an hour through the use of handlines, which are small hoses used inside burning structures to apply water directly to a fire.

Heavy smoke coming out of the burning building could be seen from miles away.

Investigators from Dallas Fire-Rescue said there were two individuals inside the business when the fire began, but did not reveal their identities.

According to CBS 11 News, one of the individuals told investigators that they discovered the fire behind the shopping center and called 911 just before the fire made its way into the building.

The fire caused serious damage to some parts of the building’s kitchen. Other parts of the building, including the dining and retail area, suffered severe smoke damage.

A nearby business also suffered some exterior damage as a result of the fire. However, the damage was minor enough that the business reportedly did not have to shut down.
