Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) teams have been working in Central Texas since July 4, helping communities devastated by recent flooding.
The deployment includes water rescue specialists, medical support staff, and aerial rescue personnel assisting overwhelmed local responders.
The emergency assistance comes as Central Texas grapples with severe flooding that has trapped residents and animals. Dallas crews are providing critical backup for strained 911 operations. The team has conducted multiple rescues of both people and animals caught in floodwaters.
One DFR member is coordinating emergency medical resources across the flood zone. Four additional members are supporting 911 services through a strike team deployment.
A DFR rescue swimmer has joined Texas Department of Public Safety crews for aerial rescue operations. The specialized team member provides expertise for helicopter-based water rescues.
Over the weekend, an additional 6 to 10 inches of rain fell over Central Texas, causing flooding along the Lampasas, Llano, and San Saba Rivers. The department stands ready to send more resources as Central Texas communities request assistance.
