Dallas County Elections Administrator Heider Garcia apologized for the issues with the digital books used to check in voters, causing some voters to wait in line for more than two hours.

The glitch that occurred caused some voters to get ballots that did not match their precincts, reported WFAA.

As a result, poll workers had to reboot the system, which caused the line to keep growing.

“A big apology. Obviously, yesterday was not our finest day,” Garcia told WFAA on Tuesday.

“No matter where you live in Dallas County, you’re going to have the presidential race. You’re going to have the sheriff’s race. Those are county-wide races,” Garcia said, reported WFAA.

The Election Systems & Software is responsible for the machines.

“The issue was caused by the poll book workflow not displaying an indication that the devices were processing information input by the poll workers,” said ES&S in the statement, reported Texas Scorecard.

Residents from Dallas County have criticized Heider’s leadership.

“It was great to see the large turnout for early voting, but it could have also led to people rushing through and overwhelming the machines,” said Christine Welborn, president of Advancing Integrity, as reported by Texas Scorecard.

“The fun doesn’t stop when it comes to elections in Dallas. At this point you gotta wonder if Heider is just gaslighting us,” Barry Wernick told The Dallas Express.

Barry Wernick, a member of the Republican Party, campaigned for a seat in the Texas House of Representatives to serve District 108. However, he was defeated in the Republican primary on March 5, 2024.

“We are seeing the most voting errors we’ve ever seen reported in Dallas County! If you experienced issues like these below while voting in Dallas County, we need to document these!” Wernick posted on X.
