A recent health inspection of Dallas restaurants netted one failure, but also included more than a dozen establishments that obtained perfect scores.
Between July 27 and August 2, 185 restaurants in the city were inspected and graded on a 100-point system.
A score of 100 is considered perfect, while scores below 80 require re-inspection. A score of 70 is considered extremely poor, and any establishment graded below 60 must close and be reinspected before reopening.
Fortunately, none of the 185 restaurants in the city were considered bad enough to require closure, and just one, Waya at 6334 Gaston Ave., was given a failing grade, with a score of 67. The Japanese eatery was dinged for multiple violations, like storing food at incorrect temperatures, a lack of handwashing soap at the sink, and miniature flies in the bathroom.
Five other spots in the city scored between 70 and 80, mandating a re-inspection:
- Bucky Moonshine at 2912 Elm St. Score: 70.
- Sweet Bella at 8131 Forest Lane. Score: 70.
- El Ranchito Cafe & Club at 610 W. Jefferson Blvd. Score: 72.
- Jimmy John’s at 11810 Preston Road, Ste 160. Score: 76.
- Forest Donut at 7726 Forest Lane. Score: 78.
