Dallas County launched its 10th Annual Expunction Expo on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, offering qualifying residents a chance to clear eligible criminal records and remove barriers to employment, housing, and education.
Applications opened at 8 a.m. on July 8 and will close at 5 p.m. on July 9. Due to high demand, not all applicants will be selected; participants are chosen by a random lottery system.
Decade-Long Program Helps Thousands
Since its launch in 2017, the Expunction Expo has helped secure 3,365 approved expunctions through the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney’s Office and the Dallas County District Clerk’s Office.
Eligible individuals include those with qualifying felony or misdemeanor arrests that meet the requirements of Texas expunction laws.
Dallas County Criminal District Attorney John Creuzot highlighted the program’s impact, stating, “For 10 years, the Expunction Expo has helped thousands of people remove barriers that stood between them and a brighter future.”

How much does the Expo cost?
You will not incur any expenses for legal representation; a volunteer lawyer will be allocated to your case. There is a $350 fee to submit an expunction case, and there could be extra charges for serving certain Respondents. Participants might be eligible for a fee waiver depending on their financial situation. Your lawyer will help you in applying for the waiver if it is suitable.
What happens after you complete the application?
Your application will go through an initial assessment to ascertain whether you have qualifying cases and if you are eligible to take part in the Dallas County 2026 Expo. Based on the volume of applications received, we will also conduct a random lottery to determine this year’s participants.
You will be informed by August 28, 2026, at the latest, regarding your acceptance status.
If you are accepted into the Expo, a volunteer attorney will be assigned to you. Being accepted into the Expo DOES NOT ensure that you will receive an expunction. Once a volunteer attorney consults with you, reviews your cases, and verifies your eligibility, the attorney will submit a petition on your behalf.
The Dallas County Respondents will perform a thorough review of your case(s) and decide whether to support or oppose your expunction. This review follows the Texas expunction law. If the Dallas County Respondents consent to the expunction and no other Respondent raises an objection, the judge will sign your expunction order, per the announcement.
