A Dallas County re-tabulation that was intended to resolve election irregularities appears to be raising more questions than it has answered.
“With this press release, we demand swift and immediate actions be taken by Clay Jenkins, County Judge and Chair of the Elections Commission to develop a plan to deliver honest, competently delivered and violence-free elections to Dallas County voters, election officers and poll watchers,” The Dallas County Republican Party said in a November 20th press release.
The party statement warned, “The November 5, 2024 election may go down in history as the worst election ever delivered to voters by Dallas County.”
This message comes just days after a vote re-tabulation effort at the Northway Christian Church, Disciple Central Community Church and Ministerios Charisma polling locations failed to resolve differences between vote count totals between Central Count and the several polling centers.
After two re-scans, the discrepancy between Central Count and Northway went from 329 to -2. Disciple’s discrepancy grew from 144 to 193, while Ministerios Charisma’s fell from 155 to 18, pulling these polling locations beyond the statutorily acceptable margin of error of three votes.
The re-tabulation was ordered by the Honorable Tonya Parker of the 116th District Court at the pleadings of Dallas County Election Administrator Heider Garcia on November 13th, The Dallas Express reported.
Earlier that same day, DX reported that Parker had heard oral arguments from lawyers from the District Attorney’s office. The office was representing Dallas County Election Administrator Heider Garcia who asked for the sealed ballot boxes to be opened and re-tabulated.
Attorney Ben Stool explained to the court that when there “is a difference of more than 3 [votes in the Central Count tabulation and the precinct tabulation], the law requires that [elections officials] tabulate those paper ballots.”
19 of the 71 early voting locations showed vote-counting irregularities. However, Garcia requested that the court only order a re-tabulation at the 3 locations with the highest levels of discrepancy.
Referring to the three locations where a rescan was conducted, the county GOP said, “[T]hese questions must be asked: how many voters were disenfranchised through the use of error-prone, high-speed scanning equipment? Are the Central Counting workers sufficiently trained to correctly operate this equipment? Whose votes did the high-speed scanners count? Whose votes were not counted by the high-speed scanners?”
Garcia was contacted by The Dallas Express for comment but did not respond.
This action comes amid a flurry of lawsuits about election integrity in Texas.
Former Texas House of Representatives candidate and election integrity activist Barry Wernick has been republishing a variety of affidavits in election integrity cases in Texas since the November 5 general election on his X account.
