For those staying home over the holidays, the City of Dallas has announced that a number of its departments and offices will be closed.
City closures include sanitation, parks and recreation, water utilities, libraries, and animal services.
“There will be no garbage or recycle collections on Monday, Dec. 25 or Monday, Jan. 1, in observance of the holidays,” the City stated on its website.
“All garbage and recycle collections the week of Dec. 25 and the week Jan. 1 will be delayed by one day (i.e. Monday routes will be serviced on Tuesday, Tuesday routes on Wednesday, Wednesday routes on Thursday, Thursday routes on Friday, Friday routes on Saturday).”
Park and Recreation Department administrative offices, maintenance facilities, and recreation centers, along with each of the city’s public libraries, will be closed on December 25 and January 1 and reopen on the following days. The Vickery Park Branch Library, which is normally open on Sundays, will also be closed on December 24 and December 31.
The Dallas Water Utilities administrative and customer services offices, as well as Animal Services, will be closed on December 25. Those in need of emergency assistance for water services may call 3-1-1, and non-emergency requests can be submitted via the City’s website or mobile app.
The holiday season is in full swing across the nation, with Christmas Day now only weeks away. The American Automobile Association (AAA) predicted that 115.2 million travelers would be traveling between Saturday, December 23, and January 1 of next year, the second highest in its history, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
