The Dallas City Council 2025 elections are scheduled for May 3, and the list of candidates has been completed.

Candidates had until Friday, February 14, 2025, to file an intent to run in the city council election, meaning the full list of candidates is officially set.

Although many Dallas residents have grown accustomed to the current city council, there are guaranteed to be a few changes within at least four districts.

The Dallas Charter stipulates that city council members are only eligible to serve four terms, each lasting two years.

Thus, three council members are unable to run in the 2025 elections.

Due to these term limits, Mayor Pro Tem Tennell Atkins of District 8, along with Council Members Carolyn King Arnold of District 4 and Omar Narvaez of District 6, are ineligible to enter their names on the ballot.

As a result, each of these districts will vote to elect a new member to represent the area on the Dallas City Council.

In addition to the three City Council Members ineligible to run for another term, City Council Member Jaynie Schultz of District 11 has opted against running for another term.

Finally, District 14 is the only district in Dallas that does not pose a challenger for the incumbent, meaning Council Member Paul E. Ridley will continue in his role, barring any unforeseen changes.
