Dallas’s cupcake shop, Gigi’s Cupcakes, at 5450 W. Lovers Lane, Dallas, is temporarily and indefinitely closed. The closure comes after a vehicle crashed into their glass front wall on December 1.

According to a report by The Dallas Morning News, Gigi’s Cupcakes reported that a black Audi crashed into the bakery after the driver placed her vehicle in drive while trying to put it in reverse, then hit the accelerator. Police say the Audi slammed into another car as the driver attempted to drive it out of the bakery.

Dallas police said that no one person was injured in the incident. However, due to the extensive damage to the cake shop, it was closed immediately. A spokesman for Gigi’s Cupcakes said that the shop front area and the kitchen got damaged as the vehicle barreled through the front window.

Dessert lovers who want to have a taste of Gigi’s Cupcakes can visit other open branches in Mansfield, Fort Worth, Southlake, Carrollton, Granbury, and Cedar Hill.

Dallas police have not reported any arrests in connection with the incident.

Dallas has seen multiple reports of vehicles crashing into eateries within the past few years. Not long ago, in late November, a car crashed into Thunderbird Station in Deep Ellum, destroying the outdoor planters and Christmas lights amidst other things, according to The Dallas Morning News. An SUV crashed into Haute Sweets Patisserie in late 2020. Per the report, three employees were injured.

Uptown Dallas’ S&D Oyster Co. has also reported multiple cases of vehicles driving into its walls.
