City of Grand Prairie issued the following announcement on June 10
Residents near the S. Carrier/Camp Wisdom area in South Grand Prairie may hear a siren going off throughout the year operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, who is in charge of maintaining the flood gates at the Joe Pool Lake dam, warning residents and bystanders as they prepare to open the flood gates to release extra water buildup at the lake.
This siren is not a part of the city’s outdoor warning siren system normally used to notify residents of an emergency.
