During the first Dallas City Council meeting of 2024, officials approved spending $54,726,470 on projects, including pavement repairs, sewage odor control, and construction services.

On Wednesday, council members unanimously authorized a $34,717,342 construction services contract for pavement repairs for water and wastewater operations at various locations throughout the city.

The three-year contract will be utilized for repairs to streets, alleys, sidewalks, medians, and parking lots resulting from water and wastewater main repairs.

The council also approved a $9,694,400 three-year price agreement for purchasing and maintaining odor control and corrosion inhibitor agents for the sanitary sewer system and wastewater treatment process.

Chemicals purchased under this agreement mitigate odors, protect the wastewater system infrastructure against corrosion, and improve sludge quality for safer disposal, according to City documents.

Furthermore, council members authorized spending $3,000,000 on a roadway reconstruction project, along with drainage and pedestrian upgrades, on 10th Street from Interstate Highway 35E to Clarendon Drive.

Other expenses approved by the council on Wednesday include the following:

  • $1,792,675 — construction services for three alley reconstruction projects.
  • $1,606,007 — a three-year service contract for implementing the Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program and preparing reports for uncompensated ambulance services for the City through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. • $345,478 — paying outstanding invoices for cold patch asphalt.
  • $337,117 — authorizing a two-year purchasing agreement for continued use of cloud services and support for the budget preparation and management system for the IT department.
  • $140,000 — settling a lawsuit following a car accident involving Dallas Fire-Rescue.
  • $122,244 — increasing a service contract for an expansion scope, upgrading the regional tabletop exercise to a regional functional exercise from $491,219 to $613,463.
  • $45,000 — acquiring a drainage easement near the intersection of North Haven Road and North Central Expressway.
  • $4,500 — acquiring sand and gravel rights to a portion of land on Canada Drive near its intersection with North Hampton Road for the Dallas Floodway Project.
