The Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) was all bright and bubbly on the evening of December 14 as the center gave gifts to children in a drive-thru event.
Every year, during the Christmas season, the Advocacy Center conducts a large toy drive and gives them to over 2000 child abuse victims in their annual Holiday of Hope event.
This year, the DCAC and other organizations, including the DPD, collected gift donations for boys and girls aged 0 to 7. DCAC works with the Child Abuse Unit of the Dallas Police Department, a Dallas County Assistant District Attorney, and six units of CPS who all participate in all DCAC cases.
According to the DPD Beat, the gifts included coats, fuzzy blankets, books, pajamas, and toys. Leading up to the event, DCAC called for donations from citizens to help make the event a success.
According to DPD Beat, Dallas Police, headed by Police Chief Eddie Garcia, helped hand out the children’s gifts.
Lt. Zafrani said the event was a memorable one for the children, their parents, and everyone involved. “We were given the opportunity to remind these families that we will always be there for them,” the lieutenant said.
On the website, police further assured the citizens of Dallas of their continued presence and assistance. “The Dallas Police Department will continue to assist all those in need and remind the citizens of Dallas that we too will always be here for them,” it reads.
